Litwin and SAMIR have signed an EPC turnkey contract for the approximate amount of €32 millions for the supply of a cogeneration electricity power station for the SAMIR refinery in Mohammedia, Morocco.

Skhirat, Morocco, 27th July 2006

The Moroccan company SAMIR and the French company Litwin have signed any turnkey contract for the construction of a cogeneration power station for the Mohammedia refinery in Morocco. The contract value is approximately €32 million.

The order by Litwin, the Prime Contractor, will cover a complete set of project services including design, procurement, transport to site, construction, personnel training, commissioning and start up.

Jamal BA-AMER, Director General and Administrator of SAMIR stressed in his explanation that: « This cogeneration plant will be situated in the SAMIR refinery in Mohammedia. It will have a total capacity of approximately 40 MW and approximately 70 T/h high-pressure steam. The power station will provide the refinery and the new installations being constructed as part of the modernization project with electricity and steam. »

Max ABITBOL, Chairman of the Bateman-Litwin NV group and Chief Executive Officer of Litwin, commenting on this day’s announcement is declared: « This contract follows on from the successful implementation by Litwin of six projects for the SAMIR refinery between 1968 and the present time (EPC, FEED, PMC). This success results from the partnership established between SAMIR and the engineering firm Litwin thanks to the know-how of the latter in the refining and energy industries. This is the third contract that Litwin has won in less than a year on the Moroccan energy market. »
