LITWIN Awarded a Convertible EPC Contract for a 3 x 70 MW power plant
LITWIN SA has been awarded a convertible EPC contract by Société Le Nickel, a subsidiary of the Eramet group, for a 3 x 70 MW coal fired power plant.
The new plant is expected to be built at the Doniambo Nickel Smelter site, Noumea, New Caledonia to replace the existing one operated on fuel oil. The plant will incorporate circulating fluidized bed boiler technology, which is an environmentally friendly technology for burning coal at low level emissions. During the first phase, which should be completed in approximately 9 months, Litwin will conduct a basic engineering study and an open book estimate of the subsequent EPC project. In a second phase and upon the decision of Société Le Nickel to implement the Project, the contract shall be converted into an lump sum turnkey EPC contract of approximatively 39 months duration.
Max Abitbol, Chief Executive Officer of LITWIN SA announced: "We are delighted to be chosen by Societe Le Nickel as a business partner and we are very much looking forward to demonstrating our expertise to this important new customer. We believe that the number of projects for coal fired power plants, associated with environmentally friendly technology, will increase as the prices of oil and of gas continue to remain high."
