Litwin EMEA is pleased to announce that Litwin SA, its wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded two Engineering, Procurement and Technology (“EPT”) contracts, based on its PROABD® technology for a total value of US$12 million. PROABD® technology allows for the separation, distillation, reforming and transportation of crude tar.
The first contract is for Angang Steel Company Limited (“Angang”), the second largest steel producer in the Liaoning Province, China. The award is an extension of a contract signed approximately six months ago which was to provide coal tar distillation and coal tar residual (pitch) reforming technology. Bateman Litwin will now also provide pitch granulation technology. Pitch granulation converts liquid pitch into a solid form allowing for easier transportation. This is an environmentally friendly solution as very little gas emission occurs throughout the process. Angang should subsequently be able to produce 160,000 tpa of granulated pitch.
The second contract was awarded by Seastar Chemical, located in Henan province, China. The project scope includes pitch reforming and granulation. The plant’s output will have an estimated production capacity of 80,000 tpa of granulated pitch.
Max Abitbol, Chief Executive Officer of Litwin said: “We are pleased to have been awarded these contracts, one of which is for Angang, a client already familiar with our technology. These projects highlight our position as an independent EPT solution provider within the industry and demonstrate the strength and ability of Litwin's technology to turn crude tar into valuable products.”
